The psychoactive constituent of cannabis, THC, may be the most well known cannabinoid, but there are also acid-containing analogs (THCA, CBDA, and CBGA) that do not have "high inducing" effects. Although the acidic cannabinoids do not induce the familiar "high", they are effective topical applicants and have been shown to have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Further, the acidic cannabinoids are converted to the active neutral form upon heating. For example, THCA is converted to THC with a lighter or baking plant material in the oven. At Delta-9 Technologies we avoid the degradation of the delicate acidic cannabinoids by using the most advanced technique to analyze marijuana, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The majority of medicinal marijuana samples contain significantly higher THCA, CBDA, and CBGA concentrations compared with the non-acidic forms (See the testing results page). An accurate portrayal of the original plant cannabinoids is necessary if edibles are to treat a patients conditions. We test samples for 6 cannabinoids (THCA, THC, CBDA, CBD, CBN, and delta-8 THC; See The Cannabinoids section). The acid-containing cannabinoids are destroyed using the alternative analytical method, gas chromatography (GC), which is used by many other testing laboratories. Our attention subtle details and extenisve experience in chemistry make Delta-9 Technologies the laboratory of choice for the Southern California community.

CW Analytical (Oakland), Steep Hill (Oakland), and Pure Analytics (Oakland) formed the Association of California Cannabis Laboratories (ACCL) (March 1, 2011), indicating how recent that testing services for potency, pesticides, and pathogens have been introduced to the market. The necessity for quality control of medicine holds obvious benefits to the entire medical marijuana community. That is why we are members of the ACCL, to provide assurance that our resuts are accurrate and validated by independent laboratories. Although strict FDA guidelines are in place for over the counter drugs such as aspirin, no regulations are currently in place to test medicinal cannabis. We are confident that cannabis testing will lead the higher quality medicine. We want everyone to have access to our services so don't hesitate to contact us.
